Darin Scanzano joined AXIS in March 2008 to establish branch operations in Canada. He serves as Chief Agent of AXIS Reinsurance Company (Canadian Branch), which was approved by OSFI in September 2008 to operate as a branch insurer in Canada. Darin has over 20 years of industry experience and has held senior underwriting and management positions at Liberty International Underwriters, Chubb Insurance Company of Canada and Allstate Canada. He is currently based in Toronto, Ontario, but has previously worked in Calgary, Alberta, as well as Sydney, Australia. During his career, Darin has had considerable experience writing business across Canada as well as the Asia-Pacific region. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Concordia University in Montreal.

Rohit Trivedi, FCIP, CSSC, CRM, CIM
Vice President, Claims

Rohit Trivedi joined AXIS in January 2010 to establish our insurance claims operation in Canada. He has over 30 years of national and international insurance experience in underwriting, marketing, loss control, reinsurance and claims. Rohit joined AXIS from Munich Re Group where he established and led the claims department from its inception for their primary arm, Temple Insurance. As Assistant Vice President of Claims at Temple, he also managed highly complex claims in excess umbrella, professional liability, municipal liability, general liability, course of construction, property and film contingency settings. He formerly was with GAN Canada where served as National Casualty Claims Manager and then later as Reinsurance Treaty Supervisor. He also previously held positions at Royal & Sun Alliance in their Saint John, Miramichi, Edmonton, Halifax and Hamilton offices. Rohit has attained professional designations from the Insurance Institute of Canada, the Global Risk Management Institute, the National Structured Settlement Trade Association and the Canadian Institute of Management.

Donna Barclay
Senior Vice President, AXIS Casualty

Donna Barclay is responsible for Excess Liability, Umbrella Liability and Primary Commercial General Liability business underwritten in Canada. Donna has over 20 years of insurance experience and formerly held casualty underwriting and management roles within Liberty International Underwriters, Chubb Insurance Company and Continental Insurance Company. She has worked in Canada and the U.S. and has a strong background in underwriting global casualty business. Donna holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Western Ontario. She joined AXIS in July 2008 and is based in Toronto.

Debbie Drost
Senior Vice President, AXIS Property

Debbie Drost joined AXIS in April 2009 to develop Commercial Property Insurance business in Canada. With over 20 years of experience in the insurance industry, she has a strong background in property and casualty, construction and equipment breakdown insurance. She formerly was Vice President, Underwriting for Catlin Canada Inc., where she had responsibility for underwriting operations for the company’s two offices in Canada, and managing a multiline portfolio of business and a team of specialty underwriters. She also previously held various underwriting and senior management roles at Royal & SunAlliance both in Canada and in the U.K.

Susan MacEachern
Vice President, AXIS PRO

Susan MacEachern is responsible for Media/Film E&O, Cyber/Tech E&O and Miscellaneous E&O business underwritten in Canada. She joined AXIS in October 2007, following a 27-year career at Chubb Insurance Company of Canada. During her tenure with Chubb, Susan was responsible for broker management, staff development, training and policy wording approval for the film and entertainment practice. She served as Vice President of the Entertainment Division and built a profitable portfolio of business. At Chubb, Susan had global authority for film underwriting and was recognized as a film underwriting expert worldwide. In addition, she managed Chubb’s Accident Department in Canada for four years.

Ian Morewood
Vice President, AXIS Casualty

Ian Morewood is a seasoned industry professional who brings over 18 years of Casualty underwriting and management experience to AXIS' Canadian insurance operations. Ian joined AXIS from Liberty International Underwriters in Toronto, where he was most recently responsible for the Canadian Umbrella & Excess portfolio. In 2002, he relocated from Toronto to Calgary to launch the Western Region Branch of Liberty International Underwriters. Ian’s greatest depth of experience is with Primary Casualty, and he has industry-recognized expertise in oil & gas and construction business. Ian is a graduate of the University of Waterloo with a B.A. in Economics.

Brad Randell specializes in D&O Insurance and related management liability coverages for the Canadian market. He has over 12 years of industry experience, having worked for Royal & SunAlliance and most recently, Liberty International Underwriters prior to joining AXIS’ Canadian Branch in Toronto. During his career, Brad has developed underwriting acumen in several key areas, including financial institutions, U.S. securities liability, and publicly traded and privately held corporations. He is a graduate of the University of Western Ontario, where he studied Economics and Business Commerce. He also attained his Chartered Insurance Professional designation with the Insurance Institute of Canada.

Kevin Clark joined AXIS in August 2010 to establish our Equipment Breakdown Insurance (Boiler & Machinery) practice in Canada. He has over 25 years of underwriting and management experience, having worked for The Boiler Inspection & Insurance Company of Canada (part of HSB group), Kemper and most recently, Royal & SunAlliance. At RSA, he served as Manager, Specialized Products/Risk Managed Division responsible for an Equipment Breakdown portfolio comprising of large, risk managed accounts across a wide range of industry segments throughout Canada. In addition to his EBI background, Kevin has underwriting expertise in Canadian property and construction lines.
